Welcoming The Sauna Club to Eastbourne

Launching on World Ocean Day, Thursday 8th June 2023, The Sauna Club unveil their new outdoor seaside sauna in partnership with Port.

From Thursday 8th June, and throughout weekends in June, we’re partnering with The Sauna Club to offer locals and hotel guests the vast benefits of a wood fired sauna by the sea.

Following on from our successful partnership with Samphire Sauna, who has taken up permanent residence on Hastings Pier, the new partnership with The Sauna Club will bring the benefits of the seaside sauna experience to the shores of Eastbourne.

Studies on the benefits of saunas have found that regular sauna use was associated with a 50% lower risk of sudden cardiac death, a 60% lower risk of stroke, and a 40% lower risk of all-cause mortality. Sauna use has been found to improve athletic performance by increasing endurance, reducing muscle fatigue, and promoting muscle growth. Great for the mind as well as the body, the mental health benefits are also widely recognised so not only are seaside saunas a great coastal experience, they’re also wonderful for your well-being.

Mobile saunas continue to rise in popularity as an affordable way to destress, detox and detach from daily pressures. The seaside sauna movement continues to gain momentum with saunas running successfully in  Bournemouth, Brighton, Folkestone, Margate, Worthing, Shoreham, Seatown and more recently Hastings.

Olivia from The Sauna Club says:

'We are really excited about our collaboration with Port Hotel. We both share the desire to bring unique and fun experiences to those living or visiting Eastbourne. We are offering the wood fired sauna in combination with ice baths (for those who don't want to go for a sea dunk) meaning guests can gain the benefits of hot and cold exposure therapy.”

Launching that partnership on World Ocean Day, Olivia continues:

“As environmentalists we offset our carbon footprint using Natural Capital Partners, we also use sustainably sourced local kiln dried wood for our sauna and are incredibly excited to be launching our collaboration in celebration of World Ocean Day - the most vital carbon sink. We hope all saunas on the sea can use their united voice to make a change to the polluted state of our oceans.”

Peter Cadwallader, Founder of Port, adds:

“As custodians of the stretch of beach outside Port we’re delighted to offer this experience with a new partnership with The Sauna Club whose brand values align to ours, with a fitting launch on World Ocean Day to raise awareness of this initiative which brings people together with a mission to help protect our blue planet.”
